National Parks

National parks are the most widely-known type of protected natural areas. They cover spacious areas marked off for the purpose of protecting the ecosystems and preserving original natural values. Exploitation of natural resources is not allowed, but educational and recreational activities are. There are eight national parks in Croatia. Brijuni, Sjeverni Velebit, Risnjak, Paklenica, Krka, Plitvička jezera, Kornati i Mljet.
