Tesla used to say that he was not an inventor but a ‘discoverer of things that exist in the nature around us’. He would first devise all of his experiments in his mind and then put them into practice. He stated that there were times when he could not distinguish between his imagination and the reality. He would then wave his hand in front of his eyes to make sure what was real and what was imagined. He was a scientist and an inventor, and one unit of measurement was named after him (the magnetic field strength).
