Krapina

Krapina is situated on the banks of the river Krapinčica, which used to be rich in carp. Since carp is called krap in Kajkavian dialect – the town got the name of Krapina!

Hušnjakovo hill

If you would like to know what life was like in the Stone Age, visit Krapina! The Krapina Neanderthal was found on Hušnjakovo hill back in 1899. The remains of people and numerous animals more than 125,000 years old were found there. Hušnjakovo hill is one of the richest archaeological sites in Europe. The new multimedia museum and a walk through the site will take you back in time and reveal our astonishing origin.
